Master Bathroom Designs in 2019

FRESH WHITES

Designer Lindsey Coral Harper updated a North Carolina home's master bathroom by incorporating Carrara marble tiles and glazing the bathtub white.

METALLIC WALLS

With marble floors and mirrored cabinets, Matthew Quinn created a "silent spa" that nonetheless fulfilled his customer's love for bling. Light bounces off the numerous reflective endings -- even the silvery grass-cloth wallpaper -- so the bathroom feels "extravagant but low-key."

At a Palm Beach home, the master bath walls have been painted a custom watery blue. Homeowner Liza Pulitzer Calhoun picked the cast-iron claw-foot bathtub since it seems "so favorable."

MID-CENTURY CHANDELIER

Thanks to a pair of brother architects, this flat on Paris's Right Bank has a dark and moody aesthetic that updates classic French style for the 21st century. The master bath retains a 1960s chandelier, a 1950s table, and a Saarinen armchair. The niche is clad in hand-cut glass-mosaic tiles inlaid with gold leaf, the walls are of Italian marble, and the floor is tiled with gold-leafed-glass and marble mosaics.

GILDED CHANDELIER

A sculpture by Louise Bourgeois overlooks a bathroom in French architect Jacques Grange's Paris apartment. The chandelier is 19th-century; the tub, sink, and faucet are by the marble flooring and L'Epi d'Or is based on a Byzantine design.
